New for 2016 Yamaha Revstar RS820CR (CR = Café Racer). The RS820CR extends the flagship Revstar RSP20CR’s design while balancing cost and performance and features an aluminum pickguard and the same TonePros bridge as the RSP20CR. The RS820CR model is made in Japan with custom parts and fully embodies the Café Racer concept…
Designed to race from coffee shop to coffee shop on the streets of London in the 1960s, Café Racer bikes were high-performance racers stripped down to their bare essentials, but still showcasing the style of their owner. The RS820 captures that spirit of total focus on performance, maintaining Yamaha’s unmistakable attention to detail, for a guitar that can’t be fully appreciated until it’s taken out for a test ride.
The Revstar electric guitars feature a set-neck construction and pickups designed exclusively for the Revstar series to produce a full sound presence. Yamaha created the new pickups to achieve optimal performance with each model, testing over 50 prototypes to select the peak spec combinations of magnet wire, coil winding, metal parts, baseplate, and magnet. The body of the 820CR is painted and then brushed with steel wool for a broken-in look. The body composition takes cues from classic Yamaha guitars and features a deep belly cut, hidden forearm contour, and a neck joint designed for easy upper fret access.
