Suhr Guitars introduce the Classic JM Ian Thornley a brand new model in their Artist Signature Series. Based on the Suhr JM Pro offset design but with custom specs for Ian Thornley including an Alder body with roasted Maple neck, HSH pickup configuration and a custom Ian Thornley “V” back neck profile…

The Suhr Classic JM Ian Thornley features a quarter-sawn Roasted Maple neck with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, the neck profile is a custom Thornley “V” shape (.840″-.930″) – a tweaked version of the Soft Medium V, the Thornley neck has a more pronounced V shape throughout the entire taper of the neck. 22 jumbo frets with stainless steel frets and PLEK fret-dress, matching painted headstock, HSH pickup configuration, series/parallel switching on the pickups and your choice of tremolo or hardtail bridge. The optional TonePros TP6 tune-o-matic bridge is thoughtfully recessed into the body of the guitar to keep the same low profile feel as the 510 tremolo.

“We started talking about a signature model well over a year ago. The wheels start turning – what do I want? That turns into what do I need? We went back and forth with a bunch of different models – just the bare bones guts and what feels right. With the neck I knew I wanted something that was bigger and I’ve always been a fan of the ‘V’. So, I settled for something in-between the soft-medium V and the big ’56 V where the V would stay consistent all the way up – as opposed to most of them right around the middle of the neck it starts to turn into a ‘C’ and round-off. So I said why not have it that kind of V all the way up and comfortable – and I love it! It feels big but it plays fast. We settled on this switching and I know the HSH is associated with shredding which is all well and good but I’ve never considered myself one. Essentially, all the sounds that I would use in a night I can get out of this guitar. If I wanted a ‘Tele’ sound I can get it. You can go from fat to skinny, from raunchy to pretty, you can do all of it – it’s like a multi-tool for tone”Ian Thornley
