The Ronin Mirari Foilbucker is hand-crafted from centuries-old Redwood in California. The guitar gets its name from the Ronin custom-made Foilbucker pickups which are modern foil humbucker pickups specifically designed to compliment the tonewoods. The Ronin Mirari Foilbucker features a bolt-on one-piece neck which is hand-shaped from a very high grade of Honduran Mahogany, neck profile can be custom made Narrow C, Wide C or Wide V again hand-shaped, the fretboard is made from 5A high quality Rosewood and can be hand-shaped with 9”, 10” or “7.25-9.5” radius. The bridge is a Mannmade® 2 Pin Full Size Steel Block Tremolo and the tuners are Hipshot. The finish is a very thin matte of un-catalyzed nitrocellulous lacquer which is then hand aged/distressed.
It is the electronics which give the Ronin Mirari Foilbucker its unique revisionist-retro character. The two Foilbucker pickups are Ronin’s own creation, entirely custom-machined and designed from the ground up to replicate the hallowed tone of vintage Rowe/DeArmond “gold foil” units, but in a humbucking format. The controls include cool retro CTS Pots and a three-way switch and push-button coil taps for each pickup to give you even more tonal flexibility.
All Ronin guitars are hand-made by Izzy Lugo and brothers John and Jack Reed in Humboldt County, California. Many of the shop’s instruments are made from centuries-old redwood salvaged from trees fallen on the Reed family’s own land.
