Gibson Modern Flying V

Gibson Custom Shop launch brand new Modern Flying V limited edition. Inspired by the 1967 Gibson Flying V (which was itself inspired by the shape of space rockets) they are calling the new Modern Flying V a sci-fi shredder with a space-age design featuring custom metal plating, the Apex headstock carve and a shimmering prism-sparkle finish plus a body shape bearing a similarity to the Starfleet logo from Star Trek…

The Gibson Custom Modern Flying V features a Mahogany body with a contoured Maple top, the new Apex headstock carve introduced in 2017, color-matched hardware and a counter-sunk output jack which has been moved from the traditional place on the top to inside the bottom horn. The fingerboard is Richlite and inlaid with smaller Pearloid blocks. The Modern Flying V has the traditional Gibson 24.75″ (628mm) scale length, 22 medium jumbo frets and a 12″ fretboard radius. Pickups are a 496R neck humbucker and a 500T bridge humbucker, controlled by a single Volume and Tone control wired to a 3-way Switchcraft Toggle Switch. Hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic bridge, Mini Grover tuning machines and a plated brass pick guard as standard. Three prism-sparkle finishes are available: Ebony Prism, Silver Prism and Gold Prism.
