NEW 2013 Gibson USA Les Paul Government Series – made from the wood confiscated from Gibson by the US Federal Government. The seized wood, mostly rosewood, was eventually returned. This limited-edition guitar sports a rosewood fretboard that was seized in that raid. The Government Series Les Paul gives you genuine Gibson sound and looks in an affordable US-made guitar. Limited to a run of 300 guitars, this is destined to be a collectors item.
In August of 2011 the US Government raided the Gibson factory in Nashville and seized a large amount of wood. They seized stocks of ebony and rosewood they claimed were in violation of the Lacey Act. The Federal charges have since been dropped.
