In a departure from the visual appearance of many of the company’s other guitars, the Gretsch Electromatic CVT-III (G5105) has been announced. With a distinctive double cutaway design, and simple, unfussy, vintage looks, the Electromatic CVT-III is far removed from its more ‘bling’ siblings.
And, with a solid mahogany body and bolt-on neck, the ‘simple’ ethic continues, albeit ‘simple’ carried out with Gretsch’s trademark finesse. This simplicity seems to reinforce the sense that the CVT-III is very much designed as a reliable ‘tool’ for a guitarist.
