In August of 2011 the US Government raided the Gibson factory in Nashville and seized a large amount of wood. They seized stocks of ebony and rosewood they claimed were in violation of the Lacey Act. The wood has now been returned & the Federal charges have since been dropped.

    I love my Gov. explorer. They should have done a better paint job on it. It fits so tight in the case there is no way there wont be paint rubbed off. I have seen the V, L P, EXPL, and have only seen 1 with out some paint problem. Other than that. They are great.

    I have 2 Goverment series 1 Explorers and one Flying v Series 1 .
    The Paint is very thin and not good on them .
    Otherwise they sound great and have very good necks with low action and very easy to play .
